WebM is an open media container designed for the web, typically utilizing lossy compression codecs like VP8 or VP9 for video and Vorbis or Opus for audio. In contrast, WAV is an uncompressed, lossless audio container based on the RIFF bitstream format. When you convert from WebM to WAV, the process extracts the audio stream from the video container and wraps it in a raw, uncompressed PCM format. Because you are moving from a lossy source (Opus/Vorbis) to a lossless target, the resulting WAV file will significantly increase in size, though it will not gain any lost audio information.

Since the source WebM audio is compressed, converting to WAV will not restore lost frequencies; it simply changes the container to a format that prevents further generation loss during subsequent editing.

No. Because WebM audio is compressed, the quality is locked. WAV will preserve what remains, but it cannot recreate audio data that was discarded during the original WebM encoding.
